Gasthaus Zum Goldberg | Photos & Reviews

The Gasthaus Zum Goldberg in Hunding is an inn with remarkable depth, as it functions not only as a restaurant but is also perceived as an integral part of local life. The official website describes the establishment as a middle-class Bavarian inn with a beer garden and as a musician-friendly tavern, while the Deggendorf district emphasizes its role as a genuine village inn with regional cuisine, fresh preparation, and a cozy atmosphere. Therefore, for inquiries about photos, reviews, maps, or opening hours, it is a location that covers multiple informational needs simultaneously: dining out, celebrating events, experiencing music, and meeting in a traditional setting. With the address Hauptstraße 18 in 94551 Hunding, the house is prominently located in the village and is accessible directly via Google Maps through the official site. History and Origin of the Inn

The history of the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg is one of the strongest unique selling points of this location. According to the official history, the property is already mentioned in the Saldenburger Stiftsbuch from 1472. Later, it appears in the Salbuch of 1587 in the Hofmarch Hundarn as a tavern. This shows that this is not just any modern inn, but a site with a long-standing inn and tavern function that has developed over centuries. Particularly interesting is that the history of the house is closely linked to the regional development around Hunding and the Bavarian Forest. The municipality of Hunding additionally points out that the village was marked by fire disasters in the first half of the 20th century and that in 1932 the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg also burned down. This connection of continuity, reconstruction, and local history makes the house equally exciting for guests, clubs, and history enthusiasts. ([gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de](https://gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de/historie/))

The more recent history is equally significant. In 1717, the Wieninger dynasty began to manage the property; they are described in the portrayal of the house as a far-reaching family of restaurateurs in Lower Bavaria. Until the sale in 1861, the inn remained in family ownership. After that, the owners changed several times, which is typical for many historical inns, but here it has been very well documented. In 1891, it was auctioned, in 1925 Xaver and Anna Ranzinger acquired the inn, and since then the property has been back in family ownership. After the fire of 1932, the building was completely rebuilt within two months. In 2015, the inn finally passed to the Weiß family, who appointed Reinhard Wandinger as tenant. This sequence explains why the house today appears both down-to-earth and family-oriented, while also clearly emphasizing tradition and identity. Opening Hours, Reservations, and Events

Those wishing to visit the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg will find clear and practical opening hours on the official website. It is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6 PM, as well as on Sundays and public holidays from 10 AM to 3 PM. For groups, special events, club meetings, and family celebrations, it is explicitly mentioned that openings outside regular hours can be arranged. This is particularly relevant for keyword intentions around reservations, events, and opening hours, as the location not only operates like a classic inn but also responds flexibly to social occasions. The official contact page also lists phone numbers for reservations and directly refers to the location in the village. For guests, this means: the visit can be organized both spontaneously and planned, with larger events needing prior coordination. ([gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de](https://gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de/))

Even the event calendar shows that the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg is not only active in culinary terms but also culturally. The website lists recurring formats such as musician meetings, Rose Monday, strong beer festival, or the Hunding theater group. Additionally, entries on regional event platforms identify the house as a place for musician meetings, children's carnival, women's roas, or annual general meetings. Particularly important is the tone: it is not about anonymous large events, but about community formats with a regional character, music, snacks, and sociable gatherings. One entry even explicitly describes the musician meeting as a cozy gathering with music, where lovers of music and song are welcome. This makes it clear that the tavern in the village fulfills a social function that goes far beyond mere dining. ([gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de](https://gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de/))

Hall, Beer Garden, and Capacity for Celebrations

For users looking for hall plans, capacity, or celebration locations, the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg provides surprisingly concrete information. The Deggendorf district states there are 30 seats in the dining area, 100 seats in the hall, divisible into 40 and 60, as well as 40 seats in the beer garden and a new party bar for about 30 people. The website also notes that events for 20 to 130 people are possible. These numbers make the location extremely versatile: it works for small family gatherings as well as for club evenings, corporate events, or larger private parties. Those looking for a place where different group and room sizes can be accommodated will find a clearly structured, yet not oversized event venue here. This is the decisive point for many interested parties between a classic inn and an event location. ([landkreis-deggendorf.de](https://www.landkreis-deggendorf.de/tourismus-kultur/gastronomie/gastronomie-im-lallinger-winkel/zum-goldberg-unser-wirtshaus/))

Particularly practical is that the rooms are described not only numerically but also functionally. The official website mentions a large hall with the latest technical equipment for corporate events. This is important for presentations, speeches, musical contributions, or club meetings. The district adds that special events, bus groups, club meetings, and family celebrations are also possible outside official opening hours. This creates a flexible usage concept that is often more valuable in small towns than a mere menu. For SEO search terms like hall, seats, celebration, or capacity, this versatility is central: the house is not a rigid event space but a multifunctional inn with a clear regional identity and good adaptability to various occasions. ([gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de](https://gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de/))

Bavarian Cuisine and Musician-Friendly Atmosphere

Content-wise, the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg stands for middle-class Bavarian cuisine, regional products, and a pleasantly down-to-earth atmosphere. The Deggendorf district describes the house as a genuine inn for locals and guests, where fresh, regional products, tasty beer, and a cozy atmosphere are at the center. This attitude is underscored by a clear philosophy on the official website: from a good product, something good should be cooked. For visitors looking for a traditional inn with honest cuisine, this is a strong signal. Instead of trendy staging, the house relies on reliability, regional roots, and a kitchen that focuses on taste and hospitality rather than effects. This makes it a good fit for inquiries expecting an authentic village inn or a family-run tavern. ([landkreis-deggendorf.de](https://www.landkreis-deggendorf.de/tourismus-kultur/gastronomie/gastronomie-im-lallinger-winkel/zum-goldberg-unser-wirtshaus/))

The atmosphere is additionally shaped by the beer garden and the status as a musician-friendly tavern. Since 2016, the Gasthaus has been allowed to call itself that, and the website as well as tourism presentations explicitly point out that musicians and music-loving audiences are welcome. The beer garden is located under shade-giving trees and is described as a pleasant place for balmy summer evenings. For children, there is a dedicated play area with swings, vehicles, and a sandbox away from traffic. This is more than a nice footnote, as it shows that the house is not only interesting for music lovers or club groups but also for families and relaxed visits in the afternoon or evening. Those looking for an inn with atmosphere, beer garden, and vibrant local culture will find exactly this mix of tranquility, regionality, and sociability here. Photos, Reviews, and Directions to Hunding

For searching for photos and maps, the official website is also helpful, as it includes a gallery, impressions, and a direct Google Maps link. The location is clearly situated at Hauptstraße 18 in Hunding, and the event entries repeatedly confirm the same address. This makes it easy to integrate the Gasthaus into one's own route, even if no separate parking overview is published on the official pages. Therefore, those traveling by car should plan their route using the map function and consider local conditions on-site. For search intentions like map or directions, this transparent yet slim information situation is typical for a well-established inn in the town center, which is primarily discoverable through its address, its role in the village, and its events. ([gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de](https://gasthaus-zum-goldberg.de/))

The Google data you provided also speaks for a solid public perception: 4.6 stars from 133 reviews is a strong signal that the inn is a relevant meeting point in everyday life as well as during celebrations. Combined with the regularly documented musician meetings, carnival, club meetings, and the long history, it creates the image of a location that not only looks good in photos but also functions well in real village life. The website also shows a photo gallery and various impressions, which is particularly valuable for users with search interest in photos. Therefore, those looking for a traditional inn in Hunding that combines history, event culture, beer garden, and regional cuisine will find in the Gasthaus Zum Goldberg a very fitting mix of authenticity, usability, and recognizability. Went there today during the apple market. The place was full and we had to wait more than one hour for the lukewarm food to arrive. I had a curry wurst with chips that tasted like industrial convenience food. My wife had the venison meat, that tasted well, but which came with side dishes that didn’t taste homemade either. Such a pity that the Gasthaus served this to us.

Church Fair Sunday 2025, eating duck. In the dining room, near the regulars' table, Bavarian music plays softly from a loudspeaker 👍🏼. The food is home-style and very tasty. The young waitress is warm and very attentive. Thanks for the good food 🎶😋

We went to dinner with 12 people on Boxing Day. The service was excellent, the waitstaff were very friendly and efficient. We ordered several different dishes, everything arrived very quickly, and it all tasted absolutely delicious! This wasn't our first time there, and it's always been fantastic! 👍👍👍

Unfortunately, I can't rate the food and drinks, as the service was rather incompetent, and after waiting 50 minutes, we still didn't even have a drink. However, the tables next to us were served diligently and entertained with private conversations. Even when our neighbors tried to alert the waiter that we still had nothing to drink, the waiter continued to ignore us.
