Technical University of Deggendorf | Study Programs & Careers

The Technical University of Deggendorf stands for practical teaching, strong research, and a campus life that goes far beyond the classic university routine. Since 1994, THD has developed into one of the most successful university startups in Bavaria. Today, around 9,500 people from 120 countries study there at three study locations and several research sites. The university is state-funded and represented as a public institution by President Prof. Waldemar Berg, combining business, technology, health, and computer science into a clearly application-oriented profile. This mix makes THD particularly exciting for prospective students, professionals, researchers, and employers. Those looking for study programs, career paths, directions, parking, photos, semester breaks, or open house days will find clear information, many current offers, and a strong regional as well as international connection at THD. Study Programs at THD: From Business to Health

The search interest around THD primarily revolves around the study programs. This is obvious, as the university describes its offerings as modern, application-oriented, practical, and interdisciplinary. Particularly important are the fields of computer science, technology, business, and health. On the overview page for the study offerings, THD refers not only to bachelor's and master's programs but also to orientation studies, dual studies, part-time offerings, modular studies, university certificates, and double degrees. This covers very different life situations, from a direct start after high school to further education alongside a job. Thus, those looking for study programs, careers, and further education will find not only individual subjects at THD but a broad system of study paths that specifically supports the transition into study and later into professional life. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/studienangebot))

It is particularly interesting that THD is visible in several rankings and study portals with its fields of study. In the CHE University Ranking 2023/24, the university was classified in the top group in several business-related subjects, including tourism management. This aligns with THD's positioning as a practical university with a close connection to the working world. Additionally, THD refers to WURI 2025 in its university profile, where it has achieved high rankings in various categories. For prospective students, this is not just a matter of prestige but an indication that the university is particularly strong in innovation, transfer, and international openness. Thus, the keyword study programs becomes not just a list of subjects but a hint at a university profile with clear practical relevance, international orientation, and good connections to the job market. Social Work, Tourism Management, and Physician Assistant in Focus

An important part of the search queries concerns very specific study programs. Social work, tourism management, and physician assistant are among the terms most strongly associated with THD. The bachelor's program in social work is offered at THD in Deggendorf, runs for 7 semesters, and starts in the winter semester. The university specifies the application period as April 15 to July 15. The program is designed as a full-time study but can also be dual. THD describes the program as an offer for people who want to work with meaning, responsibility, and social impact. Career changers are also explicitly addressed, provided that the necessary prerequisites are met. For practice, it is important that the program ends with a state-recognized degree and opens the way to many social fields of work. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/sa-b))

In the bachelor's program in tourism management, THD clearly presents itself as an application-oriented university with an international focus. This program also lasts 7 semesters, begins in the winter semester, and has the same application period from April 15 to July 15. The study location is Deggendorf. The university emphasizes that English and Spanish are integrated into the curriculum and that a semester abroad is very popular among students. Additionally, tourism management was chosen in the top group in the CHE University Ranking 2023/24. This is interesting for seekers because the program is not only regionally relevant but also strongly focused on international tourism, hotel, and management topics. The area of physician assistant rounds out the profile in healthcare. THD has been offering the physician assistant/medical care program since the winter semester 2021/22, combining medical practice proximity with academic training. This mix explains why the program names are so frequently searched. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/tm-b))

Those searching for THD are often looking not just for a university but for a concrete perspective: social work with social impact, tourism management with an international orientation, or physician assistant with a close connection to healthcare. THD provides reliable data, clear application deadlines, and a comprehensible practical reference. This is important for SEO because seekers in this cluster usually expect a quick answer to very practical questions: Where do you study? How long does the study last? When does the application need to be submitted? What foreign languages are important? THD provides this information transparently. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/sa-b))

Careers, Job Offers, and Employers at THD

The keyword cluster careers shows that THD is relevant not only for students but also as an employer. On the career page, the university describes itself as a rapidly growing institution with three study locations, 13 innovation and technology campuses, and eight faculties. Approximately 180 professors, about 430 lecturers, and around 810 employees are mentioned. This is interesting for applicants because THD offers attractive public service conditions, flexible working hours, onboarding formats, further training, and a dual career service. The university also emphasizes its international environment with over 40 percent international students from more than 100 nations. This visibility makes THD an appealing employer and academic workplace and explains the search queries related to job offers and careers at THD. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/arbeiten-an-der-thd))

Career is also a central theme for students. THD refers in the career area to support for entering the profession, CV and application checks, interviews, assessment centers, and preparation for starting a job in Germany. Additionally, there are offerings like Lunch Break & Career Talks, which provide students with practical insights into application strategies, internships, student jobs, and career paths. This shows that career is not just a topic after graduation at THD but accompanies the studies early and closely. Those searching for jobs, careers, or job offers will thus find a university that offers concrete support structures for both employees and students. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/career?utm_source=openai))

From an SEO perspective, this is particularly valuable because career searches often have a dual intention: some are looking for a position at the university, while others want to know how well THD prepares its students for the profession. Both questions are answered by the university with clear information on consulting, practical relevance, research, and transfer. Additionally, THD refers in the career area to public service, mentoring, further training, and a modern work environment. This creates a credible profile as an employer that is much more than just a job market. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/arbeiten-an-der-thd))

Directions, Parking, and Deggendorf Campus

In many local search queries, practical orientation is at the forefront: maps, directions, and parking. THD answers these questions very concretely on its own directions page. The main campus in Deggendorf is located at Dieter-Görlitz-Platz 1, 94469 Deggendorf. The university points out that parking spaces can be found in close proximity to the campus and that an overview plan of the parking spaces is available. By car, the A3 and A92 lead to Deggendorf. Those arriving by train can reach Deggendorf main station in about 20 minutes on foot; the Plattling station is about 10 kilometers away. For visitors arriving by long-distance bus or airplane, THD also provides sensible travel options and distances. This makes the university not only findable for seekers but also immediately planable. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/anfahrt))

It is also important that THD does not have just one location. The university lists additional locations in Deggendorf on its directions page, including Applied Health Sciences in Land-Au 25+27, the Communication Lab in Veilchengasse 3a, the Maker Lab in Veilchengasse 7, as well as the Faculty of Applied Computer Science in Veilchengasse 2 and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics at Stadtpark 15+26. For seekers looking for maps or campus-related information, this is particularly relevant because THD thus represents a network of teaching and research sites in the city of Deggendorf. The other study locations in Pfarrkirchen and Cham are also described on the directions page with their own addresses, parking information, and contact details. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/anfahrt))

Especially for a university, this location reference is a real SEO topic. Those searching for maps, directions, or parking often want to know within seconds whether the university is easily accessible, whether there are parking spaces, and which buildings are relevant. THD provides clear facts and a clean location structure for this. This not only strengthens user-friendliness but also enhances the local visibility of the location. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/anfahrt))

Open House Day, Photos, and Campus Life at THD

The search term open house day is closely linked to campus life at THD. According to its own page, the university invites everyone to the Open Day at the Deggendorf campus every two years. It is about research you can touch, a look into lecture halls and laboratories, information on study programs and academic further education, as well as encounters with students, alumni, and interested parties from the city and region. THD announces the next Open Day for June 11, 2027; as an interim format, it offers the Study Information Day at the Deggendorf campus on May 22, 2026. This is a strong signal, especially for families, prospective students, and school leavers: the university is not only digitally visible but also can be experienced live. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/openday))

Those searching for photos will find extensive image and video material on the THD page impressions. There, the university refers to the image film, YouTube, Instagram, and a 360-degree tour. Additionally, there are impressions from events such as the open house day, International Week, Dies Academicus, summer festival at ECRI, and Quietschietage & Veilchengassenfest. This mix shows that THD is not just a place of study but a vibrant campus community with real events and visible identity. For keyword analysis, this is important because seekers looking for photos usually want to see more than just a building. They want to experience atmosphere, people, and everyday life. THD delivers exactly that with its impressions and social media channels. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/de/hochschule/impressionen))

Particularly striking is also the Stadt Land Fluss Campus Open Air. THD describes it as a festival for students and people from the region; the idea originated in 2015, and the campus transforms into a concert venue every year. This detail is not just a nice extra but a strong location feature. It connects the university, city, and region and turns the keyword photos into a keyword for campus life, culture, and identification. Those searching for THD often seek not only academic information but also images and stories that bring the university to life. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/de/hochschule/impressionen))

Ranking, President, and Profile of the University

The keyword ranking leads directly to the university profile. There, THD showcases its strengths with a series of current rankings and awards. In the WURI Ranking 2025, it ranks 16th worldwide in the category Global Top 400 Innovative Universities, 9th in Technology Development and Application, and 14th in Cost-Benefit Management. In the CHE University Ranking 2023/24, THD is listed in the top group in several business-related subjects. For seekers, this means: the university clearly positions itself as an innovative, practical, and successful institution with international visibility. Rankings are not an end in themselves here but an indicator of transfer strength, innovation, and study quality. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/de/hochschule/profil-der-hochschule))

The profile of the university is also clearly described. THD emphasizes its roots in Lower Bavaria, its development since 1994, and its claim to connect regional development with international networking. In the profile, the university speaks of a gradual expansion of attractive fields of study, further education, intensive research, and knowledge and technology transfer to the regional economy. At the same time, it describes itself as a borderless university where people from many countries study together. This self-description is helpful for the main keyword topics president, ranking, and reviews because it shows what values the university wants to convey externally: innovation, practical relevance, internationality, and responsibility. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/de/hochschule/profil-der-hochschule))

The current president is Prof. Waldemar Berg. He is designated as president on the university management page; THD also notes that he took office on March 15, 2024. This is relevant for seekers specifically looking for president or university management. Together with the official legal form as a state institution and a corporation under public law, a transparent picture of the organization emerges. Thus, THD is also understandable for users who are not only looking for study programs but also for the structure, management, and profile of the university. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/en/organisation?abtid=1680&refid=0&utm_source=openai))

Semester Breaks, Application Deadlines, and Important Practical Information

The term semester breaks is very concretely regulated at THD. On the official semester overview, the university states that for the summer semester 2026, the lecture period runs from March 15 to September 30, 2026, with lectures ending on July 10, 2026, and the semester break from August 1 to September 30, 2026. For the winter semester 2026/27, THD states that the lecture period begins on October 1, 2026, and ends on March 14, 2027; the semester break is then from February 15 to March 14, 2027. These dates are particularly important because seekers looking for semester breaks usually need an immediate and reliable answer. ([th-deg.de](https://th-deg.de/de/studierende/antraege-und-organisatorisches?utm_source=openai))

Practically relevant are also application deadlines and tuition fees. For the study programs in social work and tourism management, THD specifies the application period as April 15 to July 15. Both programs also note that there are no tuition fees, only the student union fee; for international students from non-EU or EEA countries, additional service fees may apply. This is often a decisive factor for seekers because they want to compare costs and deadlines alongside their desired subject. For this reason, questions about applications, deadlines, and semester breaks should always be considered together. ([th-deg.de](https://www.th-deg.de/sa-b))

Those who want to orient themselves more deeply can also use the consulting services, information for first-year students, and digital services at THD. The university refers to counseling and support, the study offerings, IT services, and the career center. This transforms a simple university search into a complete information pathway for prospective students. THD is thus not only a location in Deggendorf but a structured, well-documented university location with clear orientation for study, career, and campus life. SUBJECT: BSc English + German Nursing Program Greetings DIT, I would like to inquire about your BSc English + German Language program in which I am extremely interested. I'm in the process of applying for Summer 2026 and I currently don't have a German A1 certificate. I understand that this is beginner level for the German Language and I believe I have knowledge of this level. However, I reside in The Bahamas and there currently aren't any testing centers available to take the test. Also, the application is requesting a B2 English level certificate but in The Bahamas, where I am native, English is already my native language. Thus, certificates aren't necessary. I checked your website and noticed this particular nursing program pushes students up to B2 knowledge of the German Language. I want to know what my options are regarding these matters and I look forward to your response as I am excited to enroll. Kind Regards, Justin Cius

What about the accommodation for new students who are coming in next March 2025? I'm worried about my son who is taking admission in M.Sc. this time. I can understand the accommodation system for international students.

One of the worst universities I have ever seen in my life. Staff are not responding to emails. Even when they sometimes respond, they do it very briefly and don’t answer all the queries. The admission online test was conducted in very bad conditions. Although my son paid for two online tests through this very bad platform ProctorU, he was only allowed to take one test. On the institute's website, the online admission test was supposed to be on Math and Physics, but it turned out that physics is not there, only maths. I don’t know why they want to induce the candidates into error. Luckily, my son got acceptance in all other universities he applied for in Germany without the need for the drama that this institute DIT is doing. Finally, I strongly do not recommend this university; other universities are much better ranked, more transparent, and easier to communicate with. Shame on this institute....
