Anniversary edition with a full starting field
Triathlon at Hackerweiher: Deggendorf already reports 350 starters – Waiting list open
The triathlon at Hackerweiher is approaching its 20th edition – and is already fully booked weeks before the start. According to LV Deggendorf, all 350 starting places for the competition day on May 17 have been allocated. Anyone who still wants to participate can only be put on a waiting list; late registration on the day of the event is not possible.
LV Deggendorf is organizing the event at Hackerweiher on Flugplatzstraße in Stauffendorf on May 17. The start is at 9:45 a.m. The program includes the Olympic distance, the sprint distance, relay competitions, as well as a student and youth triathlon. Spectators are also welcome on May 17.
Fully booked: 350 starting places allocated – only waiting list available
The fact that all places are already taken is not only a sporting signal for the organizer, but above all an organizational statement: A full field means high occupancy in the transition zone, on the courses, and in the finish area – accordingly, there is little room for last-minute registrations. Anyone who still wants to move up must hope for places to become available via the waiting list.
Olympic distance, sprint, and relays: This is how race day is structured
The main program includes two individual competitions:
- Olympic distance: 1.5 kilometers swimming, 39.3 kilometers cycling, ten kilometers running.
- Sprint distance: 400 meters swimming, 20.3 kilometers cycling, five kilometers running.
Both distances can also be completed as a relay. A relay consists of two or three athletes; each team member takes on one or two disciplines in full. The changeover takes place at the cyclist's spot in the transition zone – where the timing chip and start number are handed over to the next relay partner. Scoring is in the male, female, and mixed categories.
The swimming takes place in the Hackerweiher; the finish area is also there.
Youth firmly included: Student and youth triathlon in three classes
The competition day once again includes a student and youth triathlon. The start is in three year groups:
- Youth A (born 2008 and 2009): Distances as in the sprint distance.
- Born 2010 to 2013: 400 meters swimming, ten kilometers cycling, 2.5 kilometers running.
This means the event is not only a format for individual starters and relays, but also incorporates the youth as a fixed part of race day.
Courses and closures: Bike course closed in the morning
The bike course first leads to Stauffendorf on Irlbacher Straße, then onto St2074 towards Michaelsbuch, continues along Michaelsbucher Straße to Steinkirchen, and back to Stauffendorf via the district road DEG4. The circuit is about ten kilometers long. In the Olympic distance, it is ridden four times, in the sprint distance twice.
Important for residents and through traffic: The bike course is closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The running course runs along the Hackerweiher to the east, past the Untere Steinfelder industrial area and then on the bike path next to St2074 towards Stauffendorf. The turning point is at the entrance to the village; the finish is again at the Hackerweiher.
Further details about the competitions can be found in the announcements on the club's website.
